Bathing My Toddler
If you have a toddler, you know 2 minutes of downtime is more than you deserve, and that being clean is a rare sight to behold.
No not just the clothes, but the body as well. I remember the other day I had to trim my son’s hair because he had decided to have a sand shower, his afro could not let go of the sand and we had to trim it to clean off all the sand.
Those 2 minutes are also rare during bath time, from trying to see how big a splash he can make to wanting to wash himself and refusing to leave the bathroom. I can wash him in 6.5 minutes but we take close to 20 minutes because he never wants to leave the bathroom.
I have had a couple of soap in the eyes situation I must admit and that made him get terrified by the face towel getting any close to his face. He will declare his stand way before we start showering, “don’t wash my eyes with soap mama.” If you see the face that doesn’t want soap you will want to run because coming from playtime sand is just a percentage of the dirt.
Mums Village is an interesting resource center that features lots of information about motherhood and you can find a couple of my blog posts there, as well as those of other mum writers and bloggers in Kenya and in the diaspora.
